Common Samsung Phone Problems and How to Remedy Them

Whether you are new to the Samsung brand of phone or you have owned several over the course of your life, you will run into a problem with it. It happens and happens to all devices.

Samsungs are known for being great and durable phones, but like everything, they can have their own issues. Below, we will review some of the most common Samsung phone problems and how you can fix them at home should you run into them.

Unresponsive and Stuck Screen

If you have noticed that your phone’s screen is stuck or unresponsive, maybe both, then it is likely that you will need to clear your cache. This is a common issue that does arise.

To remedy the situation, you should lock and then unlock your phone screen utilizing the power button. This seems to solve the problem most of the time.

If your power button is also unresponsive at the same time, you should hold the power button down until the phone restarts. If you have been having this second issue (screen and power button unresponsive) often, you should perform a factory reset on the device.

Apps Not Downloading from the Play Store

It can be quite frustrating to go download an app only for it not to download. This is a common happening with Samsung phones. You may notice the app either does not download all the way or it just completely fails to even initiate the download.

To fix this problem, clear out the cache in your Google Play store. To do this, go to Settings and then click on Apps. From there, click on Open Google Play Store and then Clear Cache. Once done, restart your phone and attempt to download the app again.

Overheating

When a phone overheats, it is a problem associated with the battery. You may notice that your device feels very hot to the touch. While you may not think too much about it, the heat can have devastating effects on your phone and its internal components, so it is important to handle this issue ASAP.

The best solution to this problem is to replace your phone’s battery, as it is most likely the culprit.

If you do not want to replace the battery just yet, you do have another option. You will want to take steps to prevent overheating as much as possible. Here are some tips to help:

  • Avoid using your phone while it is charging

  • Keep your phone out of warm or hot areas

  • Turn off 5G when you aren’t using it

  • Keep your phone away from the sun

Battery Drains Quickly

A battery that drains too quickly can be quite frustrating; however, if it is happening to you, it does not always mean that the battery is the issue.

To help save your battery, you want to make sure you take some steps to turn off additional apps and features that run constantly in the background and drain your battery. Here are some ways to reduce how quickly your battery drains:

  • Utilize power saving mode

  • Clean up your apps using a phone optimizer

  • Turn off your Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, and other connectivity option when you are not using them

  • Remove any live wallpapers you have

  • Turn down the screen brightness

  • Turn off the always on display option

If you have taken these measures and your battery still drains quickly, you may need a new battery.
